When you’re first starting out building an online business, there are so many things to do and learn that it can kind of feel overwhelming at times! So today I’m sharing what I consider to be the bare essential tools that can help you increase your online income.

8 Tools That Can Help You Increase Your Online Income
1. SiteGround for Website Hosting – If you have any kind of website or blog, you’ll want your own domain, and you’ll need website hosting.
I noticed that a lot of people were recommending BlueHost for website hosting, so I switched from SiteGround and started recommending BlueHost, too. But shortly after switching, I had problem after problem. And, mind you, I’ve been in online business for 10+ years, including/starting with a web design company. So I’m fairly tech savvy. But the worst part was when I went to BlueHost for help, all I got were bandaid fixes, and wait and see if it fixes itself answers. Seriously.
So, back to SiteGround I went (luckily they offer a free and (super!) easy website transfer tool). Now, any time I have problems or questions, they are answered (and solved!) quickly and easily.
I don’t want to think other bloggers are only recommending BlueHost because of their higher affiliate commissions (starting at $65). Maybe they have had a better experience with BlueHost than I did. I’ll just say, based on my own experience, I use and prefer SiteGround.
2. ConvertKit for Email Marketing – You’ve probably heard it 1000 times: the money is in the list! And you’ve heard it over and over because it’s simply true.
ConvertKit is an incredibly powerful yet equally easy to use email marketing platform. But I’ll be honest, if you’re just starting out and don’t want to shell out the monthly payment to use them, you might want to start with MailChimp because they offer their services for free if you have up to 2000 subscribers and/or send no more than 12,000 emails per month.
But ConvertKit starts at just $29 (with a free 14 day trial to see if you like it!) and, in my opinion, is the best there is, period.
3. Creative Market for website themes, mock-ups, fonts, social media tools, and more — all the tools you’ll need to create a beautiful, cohesive brand that will wow (and help convert) your customers!
Creative Market is my go to for so many things I use in my own business: fonts for branding my website, mock-ups for my art, mugs, and more, gorgeous website themes, and so much more. Yes, there are other sites that sell similar things, but none as awesome as Creative Market, if you ask me!
4. Tailwind for scheduling pins on Pinterest – Pinterest LOVES it when you pin daily, and Tailwind helps you do just that. Many online businesses report 50-80% of their traffic coming from Pinterest.
But not only that! Tailwind helps you create a pin schedule that is optimized for you specifically. I pin with Tailwind up to 50 times a day, but I schedule those pins in advance, and it only takes me an hour or two to fill up my queue for a month! Tailwind is also an approved Pinterest partner, so I know I’ll never get “in trouble” by using them!
Tailwind also offers the ability to post to Instagram, but I personally prefer…
5. Later for scheduling Instagram posts – Keeping up with a regular posting schedule on Instagram can be tough.
But with Later, it’s super easy and automated! I love that I can stay front and center in my customers eyes, and even make my feed shoppable with their LINKinBIO feature! So once a week or so, I just go in and fill up my Instagram queue, add links and descriptions with hashtags (and if I can’t think of great hashtags, they have a super handy hashtag suggestion tool!) and then Later posts them for me, auto-magically!
You can also schedule Instagram stories with Later, but those you can to post manually. But you just add them to your queue, select “send notification” and at the time you’ve selected, Later will send a notification reminder to your phone and you can simply post it to your IG stories instead of to your feed. Pretty sweet!
Shopify is so easy to use for the beginner, but it’s also robust and dynamic enough for businesses doing 6 figures a month in sales. Sure, there are places you can sell you products (etc.) for free or maybe less than Shopify, but none that I have seen are as simple and yet powerful as Shopify.
Plus, with Shopify, you can selling directly from Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook so easily! No other shopping platform offers all of that.
7. Printful for selling print on demand products passively.
I use Printful to passively sell my art, as well as products like mugs and t-shirts. You can get a free account with them, as sell your designs passively (with Shopify, Etsy, and more!) on products like clothes (for men, women and kids!), totes/bags, mugs, towels, hats, phone cases, pillows and more.
Once you upload your design and sync it with your shop, once an order comes in Printful takes care of everything: from creating the order to carefully shipping it and even providing a tracking number for your customers. It’s awesome!
8. Photoshop for creating blog and social media images.
I know that new kids like Canva and PicMonkey have come along and made creating images really easy. But I still use, love, and prefer the old reliable Photoshop. It’s more powerful (which does mean there’s a bit more of a learning curve) and it just works perfectly for my online business. I use it not only for blog and social media images, but I also use it for my product and art shop listing images.

9. Media.net for including ads on your website or blog!
I recently added advertising on my blog, and while I know it’s not for everyone, I feel like it can actually help serve my readers. (Plus it’s a great way to make extra money every month — without any additional work!) I like Media.net because you can start using them at any level, and their ads are contextual so it caters to what your readers are actually looking for.
So there you have it!
